I'm trying to decide between two builds for my new PC. I have a tight budget and plan to use a 9700XT graphics card with a 1080p monitor. Should I go for the Gigabyte B650 EAGLE paired with the 7800X3D, or should I opt for the MSI B850 TOMAHAWK with the 9700X? I'm leaning toward the better motherboard but I don't want to sacrifice too much CPU performance.

If gaming is your primary goal, definitely go for the 7800X3D. It's a fantastic CPU for that purpose!
I'd say go with the 7800X3D combo. The Gigabyte motherboard isn't bad at all and fits your needs. Just focus on the CPU for gaming—it's worth it!
That was my initial thought, but this whole PC building process has been pretty overwhelming.
