I'm putting together a PC specifically for video editing, graphic design, and motion design. I'm torn between the Ryzen 5 9600X and the Intel i5 14600KF—both are mid-range options. I've heard that Ryzen isn't the best for multitasking, though. Just to give you some context, my build includes an RTX 4060 Ti and 32GB of RAM. Which CPU would be the better choice for my needs?

I'd go for the Intel 14600KF. Honestly, AMD seems a bit overrated and overpriced right now. Plus, Intel’s 14900K is still around, and you can always upgrade from the 14600KF to it later on, which gives you some flexibility. Just make sure to choose a decent motherboard, and you'll be set!

For your specific needs, the 14600KF would be the better choice. The 9600X does have superior single-core performance, but the 14600KF adds 8 efficient cores, which gives it a big edge in multi-threaded tasks that are crucial for editing and design work.

I've used both the Intel i5 14600KF and the Ryzen 5 9600X, and their performance is pretty similar in most cases. It's a good idea to check benchmarks for the specific programs you plan to use. One advantage of the 9600X is its AM5 socket, which means you can upgrade your CPU in a few years without needing to replace the motherboard or RAM. Plus, it tends to be more power-efficient and doesn’t require as much cooling. Overall, both CPUs will serve you well!
