Which CPU Makes the Most Sense for an RX 9070 XT at 1440p?

I’d choose the 7600X3D as the sensible middle ground. X3D chips can provide noticeably better minimums and smoother performance, even when the average FPS difference is modest. The 9600X is fine for saving money, but I’d skip it if the extra cost of the 7600X3D is manageable.

You may not need to replace the CPU immediately. The Ryzen 5 5600 should be adequate for starting at 1440p, especially in GPU-heavy games. Try the new card first, then upgrade to a 5700X3D or 5800X3D later if you run into CPU limits or poor 1% lows. That lets you avoid buying a new motherboard and RAM right now.

At 1440p in graphically demanding games, the RX 9070 XT will usually be the limiting component, so the 9600X gives the best price-to-performance among the listed options. The 7600X3D is a better choice if you care about stronger 1% lows and more consistent frame times, but it costs more for relatively little extra average FPS. The 9800X3D is the fastest option, though it should last long enough that a planned upgrade in three or four years probably won’t be necessary.
