I'm considering upgrading my setup with either a 7600X or a 9600X to pair with my 5070 Ti on a 170Hz, 1440p display. The 7600X costs $177 while the 9600X is priced at $189. Is it worth the extra $12 for the 9600X, and if so, which one would be the better choice?

If the price difference was bigger, I might consider the 7600X, but for just $12 more, I'd go for the 9600X without hesitation. It's basically a no-brainer, especially with the performance and efficiency gains.

I'm running a 7600X with a 5070 Ti, and while it’s decent, I think at these prices the 9600X is just the smarter investment. For such a small difference in price, it just doesn’t make sense to settle for less!

If you can swing the extra $12, the 9600X is the way to go. The performance difference might not be huge, around 5-10%, but better temp management and efficiency can make a difference in the long run. Not to mention, if you ever plan on using programs that utilize AVX-512, the 9600X will benefit you there.

The 9600X is definitely the better choice for a small price bump. It's more power-efficient, runs cooler, and offers a bit higher performance. While the 7600X performs similarly in many cases, the 9600X just edges it out with better thermal management and efficiency. Plus, it's a newer model which is always a plus!

Honestly, for just a little more cash, I’d also recommend going with the 9600X. It tends to have better single-core performance, which matters a lot for gaming. The fact that it manages temps better is a nice bonus too. If you’re into overclocking, the 9600X has more headroom there too!
