I'm diving into a lot of creative work with Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, and DaVinci Resolve, but I also want to make sure I can game well. I'm looking at bundles from Micro Center and considering the Ryzen 7 7700X, 9700X, and 7800X3D. Is it worth it to go for the 7800X3D, given my focus on productivity? If not, is the upgrade from the 7700X to the 9700X worth the extra $50?

Honestly, you might want to skip all those options and check out the Intel Core Ultra 265K. It’s more affordable than the 9700X, has 20 cores, and outperforms it in multicore tasks by a ton—around 80%! While it may not be the fastest for gaming, it still holds its own against the 9900X. Just keep in mind there aren't many upgrade paths, but if you're not looking to swap CPUs frequently, that shouldn't be an issue.
If you’re doing a lot of work with Premiere and DaVinci, I'd lean towards the 9700X for a balanced performance. Plus, it can handle triple-A games and CPU-intensive titles like Fortnite pretty well, especially in those hectic end zones.
The games you play really matter here. If you're into WoW, for instance, the 3D V-cache can be a game changer. While all your options are solid, the 9700X could offer better memory support and efficiency. I think it’s a solid upgrade over the 7700X for gaming, especially if you’re looking at newer titles.
What software do you prioritize? If it's mostly Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, the X3D variants might not offer significant benefits for those. The 9700X is generally a nice step up from the 7700X across the board. That said, if you’re doing heavy video work, you might want to consider Intel over AMD for better performance.

I'm looking to get into some new triple-A titles, but I tend to play competitive shooters mostly.
