I'm looking for advice on selecting the best CPU for my needs, specifically for deep learning model training, running multiple Docker containers, and casual AAA gaming. I want to balance performance and cost, aiming for something that won't break the bank but still offers good future-proofing. My main focus is on multi-core performance, as I plan to upgrade from a Ryzen 7 3700X and would prefer something with more than 8 cores. Right now, I'm considering the AMD Ryzen 7900X and 9900X, but I'm open to suggestions for other options, including Intel, even though I'm not a fan of their efficiency cores. My current build includes a 2x GPU setup (4060Ti + 5060Ti) with a power supply that can handle upgrades to a 4090 or 5090 later on and I have 64 GB of RAM. Here's a breakdown of some CPUs I've been looking at and their specs for your reference.

Have you thought about the Ryzen 9 7950X? It’s slightly cheaper than the 9950X, while still delivering excellent multi-core performance. It might be the sweet spot between price and performance for what you need!
If you can swing it, I’d definitely recommend the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X. It offers great performance for your workload. Sure, it's pricier, but the multi-core performance is where it shines, especially for your deep learning tasks. Plus, you'll be future-proofing your system!
That’s a solid choice, but I’m wary of the cost. It’s a big jump from the 9900X! Can the performance difference really justify the extra cash?
That's a good point! I've seen some good benchmarks on that one too. Might have to take another look at it.
