Hi everyone! I've recently upgraded my GPU to an RX 9070 XT, which is a fantastic upgrade from my old RX 580. I was set on making this purchase before prices skyrocketed, and I'm really happy with it! However, my current CPU, the Ryzen 5 3600, is seriously struggling to keep up, especially when I'm playing demanding games like Cyberpunk, where I'm locked at 41 FPS to prevent a stuttery experience. The only game I can enjoy without maxing out the CPU is Expedition 33, which is a bit disappointing.
Since I need to stick with the AM4 platform and can't afford the pricey AM5 setup, I started looking into the best CPUs available for AM4. The 5800X3D seems like the top pick, but I can't find it anywhere, not even second-hand. The only other options that are available at a decent price are the Ryzen 5 5500X3D and the Ryzen 7 5700X, which are both priced the same.
Can anyone tell me which of these two would bottle-neck my GPU the least? I'm looking for the best upgrade from my 3600, and I'm also wondering if I should just hold off buying anything until either the AM5 prices get more reasonable or an affordable 5800X3D pops up.

I'd go with the Ryzen 5 5500X3D! It's pretty competitive and can even beat the Ryzen 7 5700X in many gaming scenarios, especially due to its larger L3 cache. From what I’ve seen, both options would be a solid step up from your 3600, but if gaming is your focus, the 5500X3D has the edge in most cases.
Honestly, both CPUs are solid picks. The 5500X3D performs a bit better in games, but the difference is minimal. Either way, they both offer a substantial upgrade from the 3600.
Just curious, but what’s the price difference between the 5500X3D and 5700X? I’m considering upgrading too.
I just upgraded from the 3600 to the 5700X, and it works great! I got mine at a decent price; definitely worth it for gaming performance. If you can snag the 5700X, go for it!
If you can wait a bit longer and save up for a 5800X3D, I’d recommend that! If not, between the 5500X3D and 5700X, just get what you can find for the same price—they’ll both boost your performance.
