Which CPU should I upgrade to?

I'm currently using an Intel Arc B580 alongside a Ryzen 5 5500, with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a B450 motherboard. Overall, I've been happy with how everything runs, and most of the games I enjoy play well on my setup. However, I've been considering a CPU upgrade since I'm worried about how this setup will perform in the future, especially with fluctuating prices. I'm curious if CPU prices will decrease or if they'll skyrocket like RAM did. Additionally, I'm open to upgrading my motherboard if that would make sense for my upgrade path.

Honestly, I'd stay where you are. You'd need to switch to a Granite Ridge model, which means you'd have to go for either the 7000 or 9000 series. This also requires moving to an AM5 socket and DDR5 memory, so it's a bigger change than just a CPU swap.

Yikes, let's hope CPU prices don't go wild and RAM prices start to drop!

If your current setup is meeting your needs, maybe hold off on upgrading until you really have to. The only significant upgrade options without replacing your RAM and motherboard would be the 5xxxX3D models, and they're pricey right now due to the RAM situation.
