I'm trying to decide between two combos: RX 9070 XT paired with a Ryzen 7700, or an RTX 5070 with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Both options are priced the same. I primarily game at 1080p and do some competitive gaming, but I also enjoy flight simulators which are quite demanding on hardware. Which combo would give me better performance, especially considering VRAM usage for simulations?

I'd suggest sticking with the RX 9070 XT and Ryzen 7700 for 1440p gaming. It's known to handle those resolutions better than the RTX 5070. Plus, if you find a cheaper Ryzen 5 9600X, it can offer similar performance.
I hear you, but I'm currently on 1080p and enjoy flight sims. From what I gather, the X3D CPUs like the 7800X3D perform exceptionally well in MSFS due to their VRAM management, which has me leaning toward them.
