Hey everyone,
I'm in the process of building a gaming PC using some used parts I've picked up. So far, I've got:
- Intel i5 14500KF
- B760m AX A motherboard
- 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 Corsair 6400MHz RAM
- Reusing my EVGA 750W Gold-rated PSU
- Reusing an SSD.
Now, I'm looking to buy a GPU and I've found two options from a seller:
1. 6800 XT for $550 AUD
2. 3080 Ti for $650 AUD
I'm aiming to game at 1440p on titles like Battlefield 6, Arma, CS, and other AAA games. I'm open to upgrading to a more modern GPU later but not sure if it's worth spending the extra $100 now. What do you all think?

I'd suggest going for a more modern GPU if possible, like the 9060 XT or 5070. The 3070 series cards are becoming more available, and I think they're worth considering over the older models like the 6800 XT.
Definitely go for the 6800 XT! It's cheaper, has more VRAM, and will run those games at 1440p like a champ. Can't go wrong with it for the price.
If you're not into productivity and don't need ray tracing, then the 6800 XT might be your best bet. You can undervolt it for better temps, too; it’ll handle 1440p nicely.
That's a solid point; I think I might go with that!
Honestly, either card will do fine, but you might find that you're close to the price of the 5070 if you look around. As others mentioned, the 9060 XT 16GB is a great modern choice that should meet your 1440p gaming needs with good upscaling tech.
Why did you pick Intel though?
I found a good deal on the motherboard and CPU together for $400, which seemed like a decent performance for the price.
That's not really answering his question.

Yeah, prices for those cards can be pretty steep right now, like $700-800, so it might be better to wait for a year when more options hit the market.
