Which GPU Should I Choose: 5070, 9070, or 9070 XT?

My 1080 Ti unexpectedly died, and I'm in the market for a new GPU. I haven't researched the latest cards extensively, so I'm looking for some guidance. The prices I'm seeing, including taxes, are $690 for the 9070, $800 for the 9070 XT, and $715 for the 5070. I'm curious if the Nvidia features are worth giving up 4GB of VRAM and some performance. Is the 9070 the best choice considering my situation? I game at 1440p with a 165Hz refresh rate, and I have a 9800X3D and a 1000W power supply.

I just upgraded from a 3080 to a 5070 and was pleasantly surprised. The performance is stable, and the power consumption is way lower. If you can find a 5070 for under $500, that’s a great deal! Just make sure you weigh the prices against what features you really want. If the 5070 Ti is close in price, that could be worth considering too.

Great advice! I’ll check Walmart later for stock; those prices are better than what I've seen online.

How has the 5070 been for you in terms of temperature and power? I'm also considering that card.

If budget isn't a huge issue, the 9070 XT is a powerhouse of a card. That GPU will serve you well, especially if you're into more demanding games.

Honestly, if you're looking at those three, I'd go with the 9070 XT. You mentioned you don't seem to need Nvidia features, and it offers better performance for a slightly higher price. It's a solid choice for 1440p gaming.

Your choice really depends on the resolution and the kind of games you play. Since you’re gaming at 1440p, if you prioritize ray tracing performance, the 5070 is a good pick. If not, for sheer value, the 9070 is a great choice, while the 9070 XT will give you top-tier performance when you need it, especially for more graphically intensive titles. But check the prices of the 5070 Ti too; if it's within a reasonable range, it might be worth considering it for your setup.

I'm leaning towards the 9070 since I don't care much for ray tracing, and around here, a 5070 Ti is nearly $250 more than the 9070 XT.

That makes sense! If you're not wanting to break the bank, the 9070 is definitely the way to go.

For your situation, I think the 9070 XT is the best option at that price point. The added performance for just a little more cash is definitely worth it, especially at your gaming resolution.
