I'm trying to decide between three graphics cards: the 6700xt, the 6800, and the 3080. My budget is around $300. The 6700xt costs about $280 with shipping, the 6800 is around $310 with shipping, and the 10GB 3080 is priced at about $320. While the 3080 is considered the top performer, I've heard that VRAM is becoming increasingly important, and the 6700xt and 6800 offer 10GB and 12GB of VRAM, respectively, compared to the 3080's 10GB. I'm thinking about whether to invest in the slightly slower card for longer usability or the fastest option with less VRAM. I also looked at the 6800XT, but it exceeds my budget. For context, I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 3600, with 32GB of RAM, and I have a 5600xt as my existing card.

The 6800 is an awesome choice! Don’t stress too much about the VRAM debate; it really varies by game and settings. The 3080 is a great card, and you can always see how it performs in the games you enjoy. If you end up not liking it, you could sell it later for a similar price.
In my area, the 3080 tends to retain its value better than the 6800. I’d probably lean towards the 3080 as well. You might even find a 6800 or 6800XT for trade later on!
