Which GPU Should I Choose: 7800 XT or Sapphire Pulse 9060 XT?

I'm trying to decide between getting a new Sapphire Pulse 9060 XT with 16GB for £315 or aiming for a used 7800 XT at a similar price. From what I've read, the 7800 XT outperforms the 9060 XT in raw performance by about 20%, but it seems to have weaker ray tracing capabilities and doesn't support FSR 4. I'm wondering if these trade-offs will affect the card's longevity, especially as gaming trends evolve.

The 7800 XT definitely has the edge when it comes to raster performance, but keep in mind that the 9060 XT features FSR 4, which might be a game changer in the future—though that depends on whether it will be supported on RDNA 3. Your choice should also consider the types of games you play and your plans for resolution. Plus, the 7800 XT consumes more power, which could be an issue if your PSU is on the smaller side.

If you're into story-driven games and might upgrade to a 1440p or 4K monitor, the 7800 XT might still be the better choice for performance now. But don’t overlook future titles that could really benefit from ray tracing, like the new Indiana Jones game. It’s a tough call!

Honestly, if you're going for pure performance, the 7800 XT is more powerful. But don't forget to think about how you plan to use the card in the long run. If ray tracing and upcoming tech like FSR 4 are important to you, the 9060 XT might be worth considering, especially for future-proofing.
