Which GPU Should I Choose for Gaming and Work: RTX 3070 or RX 6700XT?

I'm trying to decide between two identical builds: one with an RTX 3070 and the other with an RX 6700XT. The pricing is the same for both setups, and even the components are identical. I've heard a lot of people say the AMD card has better price-to-performance, especially with its 12GB of VRAM, but I'm curious about actual performance. I would be gaming at 1080p, with plans to possibly upgrade to 1440p in a couple of years. Also, I'm a computer science student and will be using this PC for coding (mainly in Python); my gaming to work ratio will be around 2:1. I usually play both new and older games, not really focused on competitive multiplayer. Which GPU should I go for?

Make sure to consider what resolution you'll be gaming at and what kind of games you typically play. If you're sticking with 1080p now but might upgrade to 1440p later, that could affect your choice. You mentioned playing offline games, so consistent performance might be more important than raw specs. Both GPUs are solid, but if you want some future-proofing for newer titles, the RTX might have the edge due to its better optimization for high settings, especially in demanding games.

That makes sense! I'll be focusing on single-player titles mostly and don't plan to push ultra settings, so maintaining good frame rates is a priority. I'm with you on wanting stable performance!
