I'm looking to buy a graphics card and I'm torn between the RTX 4070 and the RX 7800XT. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I want something decent that will last a while. I play games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, and Hogwarts Legacy. The RX 7800XT has better raw performance, but I heard that it lacks DLSS. Is it worth sacrificing DLSS for raw performance? I'd like to know about the VRAM too. If there are other options out there, I would love any recommendations!

You definitely want to consider VRAM, especially if you're not upgrading often. DLSS is a big advantage with the 4070, way better than the FSR 3 on the 7800XT. There's also this new Lossless Scaling software that’s supposed to help with upscaling, potentially better than FSR. I'd suggest going for the 7800XT or saving up for an Nvidia card with 16GB, since the 4070 might not be as future-proof.
I haven't heard of Lossless Scaling. What is that?
If you're not getting a good deal, I'd be cautious about buying these last-gen GPUs. I’d check into the newer 5070 or 9060XT 16GB models, which might be worth it if they fit your budget better.
Unfortunately, I can't stretch my budget that far right now.
Honestly, I'd stick with the 4070 for DLSS support—it comes with 12GB of VRAM and can handle games at 1080p or 1440p quite well with decent frame rates.
If the prices are similar, I'd personally go for the RTX 4070. I had the Asus Dual OC version, and it handled those games well at 1440p, looking really good! Just keep in mind that it’s on the pricier side.
The 4070 is a bit pricey, but if it delivers, I’m leaning that way.
You probably shouldn't be looking at either if they are priced high where you live. In my area, I've seen the RTX 50 series or Radeon RX 9000 series at competitive prices.
I’m from India and the RTX 50 series is super expensive here.
Yeah, future games will definitely demand more VRAM and better RT performance. I think you're right about needing to consider all that.
