I'm looking to upgrade from my RTX 3060 and I currently have a Ryzen 5 5600. With a budget of around $500, I'm considering either the RTX 3080 Ti (12GB) or the 6900 XT (16GB) for 1440p gaming. I'm also seeking advice on which card might be more future-proof, as I don't plan on upgrading again for a while. Any other suggestions are welcome!

The 6900 XT might offer more future-proofing with its 16GB VRAM, but keep in mind that performance can vary game by game. Also, if you're primarily focused on longevity, it could be wise to consider a new generation card rather than these older models.

That's true! A newer model, like the 4070 or even the upcoming 50 series, might be a smarter investment overall.

If you're leaning towards the 6900 XT, just remember that while it has the advantage in VRAM, the 3080 Ti tends to perform better in many titles, especially with access to features like DLSS. It's really a mixed bag!

Honestly, I'd save up for something newer like a 5070 or even look into used options like the 4070 Super. Both would outperform these older cards and give better value in the long run.

I'd go with the RTX 3080 Ti if you're looking for speed and better upscaling. It's older tech but it has held up well in terms of performance.

Agreed! Nvidia has a solid track record for ongoing support, which can be a big deal down the road for gamer experiences.

I'd suggest checking out refurbished options too—like a 7800 XT. It offers improved upscaling tech and runs more efficiently, making it a great option within your budget.
