Which Lightweight Linux Distro Should I Use for an Old HP Compaq NC6320?

Hey everyone! I recently picked up an old HP Compaq NC6320, and I'm hoping to turn it into a simple PC for accessing my network storage and playing music. From what I've gathered, many Linux distros don't play well with 32-bit processors, so I'm wondering which lightweight distro would run smoothly on this setup. The laptop has an Intel T2400 1833MHz CPU, 2GB of RAM, and I've added a 250GB HDD. Any suggestions?

You might struggle with performance due to the limited RAM—running anything with a desktop environment could be a hassle. But with something lightweight like Sparky or Antix, you might be okay!

If you're interested in a little experimentation, try FreeBSD! It's not a Linux distro, but it’s quite efficient and might work for your use case.

You might want to check out Q4OS or Crunchbang++, both are based on Debian and have 32-bit versions that should work well on your laptop. They’re lightweight and should handle your needs just fine!

Antix is a solid choice as well. It's designed for older hardware and should run smoothly on your NC6320. Plus, it’s user-friendly for basic tasks!
