I'm looking for some guidance on which Linux distribution would be best for a complete beginner. I know Zorin is based on Ubuntu, Manjaro on Arch, and Mageia on RPM, but I'm not quite clear on how each one might differ in terms of user experience, especially since I haven't used a computer in years and mainly used mobile devices. I grew up using Windows, but I've been feeling out of place since XP, and Mac just doesn't work for me.
When it comes to desktop environments, I'm leaning towards Xfce or KDE. How much does the desktop environment influence the overall experience with these distros? Will I notice a significant difference if I try each OS with the same DE? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, I'd suggest looking at Linux Mint or Ubuntu instead of the ones you mentioned if you're just starting out, especially after not using a PC for a while. These options have a slower update cycle, which can be easier for beginners. If you like a specific desktop, Linux Mint excels with Cinnamon. Fedora could be a good pick if you prefer more frequent updates. Plus, when downloading Ubuntu or Fedora, you can select your desktop environment, so you could still go with KDE or Gnome. Just keep in mind you can change it later, but it might require a bit more effort.

I get that. I thought Zorin might be simpler because it’s geared towards beginners. Can you explain why Ubuntu might be a better choice?
