I'm considering switching from Windows 11 to a Linux distribution and need some advice. Here's my current setup:
- AMD Ryzen 7 5700G 3.8GHz
- 32GB DDR4 RAM (2 x G.Skill Ripjaws V Black 16GB DDR4 3600MHz)
- GIGABYTE B550 AORUS ELITE V2 motherboard
- WD Blue SN550 SSD
- Palit GeForce RTX 3080 GamingPro with 10GB GDDR6X
I mainly play games through Steam, focusing on titles like the Baldur's Gate series and the Divinity games. I'm worried about whether these games will run smoothly, or even better, on Linux. I'm looking to leave Windows because I really dislike how it's been running lately—feels sluggish and frustrating. Any recommendations on which Linux distro would work best for my needs?

I'd suggest checking out Bazzite for your setup. Since you're using an NVIDIA card, it’s one of the better options for gaming, even if you might lose a bit of performance compared to Windows. Keep in mind, though, that performance can vary depending on the games you play.

Couldn’t you just use dxvk or native Vulkan to avoid performance loss? I thought the lag mainly affects dx12 games.
