I'm looking for recommendations on a Linux distribution that would work well as a daily driver on my aging laptop, which is equipped with an i7-3615QM CPU, 12GB of DDR3 RAM, a Samsung SSD 860 PRO, and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M. I'd primarily use it for browsing the internet and doing software development, ideally with newer .NET versions for backend and frontend ASP.NET development, as well as Blazor and Android app development. I've been considering distros like Arch, EndeavourOS, CachyOS, Manjaro, Fedora, CentOS, Debian, MX Linux, and maybe Ubuntu or Mint. I haven't used Linux since the early 2000s, around the Red Hat 5.x era, so I'm a bit out of practice. I'd appreciate any suggestions!

You should definitely try out the distributions you mentioned in a live boot mode before committing to an install. That way, you can see which one runs best on your hardware without having to install it right away. Using a USB stick for this is super convenient! Enjoy!

Yeah, I get it! The USB speed could be an issue, especially since you’re looking for performance. You’ll only need one USB stick for the live system; just make sure it’s a decent speed to keep things running smoothly!
