Which Linux Distro Should I Choose for Gaming?

I'm building a gaming PC with an Intel i5-12400F processor, an RTX 4060 GPU, and 12GB of RAM. I mainly play games and occasionally watch shows, but I'm finding all the different opinions on Linux distributions really confusing. I want something user-friendly, but I'm okay with learning a few commands if necessary. What distro do you recommend?

I'm a fan of Endeavour OS, but if you want something more stable, Debian is a great pick too. I wouldn’t recommend Mint personally, but Fedora is also a good option if you want to explore.

Honestly, for gaming, I'd steer clear of Arch-based distros and choose something with a desktop environment that catches your eye. I went with Linux Mint using the Cinnamon desktop, but a lot of users rave about KDE Plasma as the cool choice on Debian. Pick one that looks appealing to you!

Different people have their favorites, but if gaming is your priority, check out Bazzite. It's supposed to support the RTX 4060 right out of the box and makes it easy to set up Steam. Debian is also reliable and well-documented, so you can install Steam and Nvidia drivers with less chance of running into issues. Just remember, if things don’t work perfectly right away, don’t get discouraged. There are plenty of resources online to help you out!

For your setup, I'd suggest going with a Debian-based distro like Ubuntu, Linux Mint, or just plain Debian itself. They are all solid choices for gaming, and there's really not much difference when it comes to performance. Some folks say to avoid Ubuntu for non-gaming quirks, but for simple tasks, it should work just fine. Linux Mint is especially great if you’re new to Linux, as it has a user-friendly driver manager to help with setup. Just relax about choosing a distro; most of them are pretty similar, and you can avoid Arch-based options for now to keep things easy.
