I'm on the hunt for a gaming monitor to pair with my laptop, which already has a 1600p 240Hz display and a 4070 GPU. I found a couple of options on Facebook Marketplace: one is a 1440p 360Hz OLED monitor for $400, and the other is a 4K 240Hz mini LED for the same price. I'm not looking to game in 4K at 240 fps; my goal is to use 4K for productivity and watching movies, but I'll dial down the resolution for gaming. The 1440p monitor is the "SAMSUNG 27" Odyssey QD-OLED G6 (G60SD) Series Gaming Monitor with QHD 360Hz 0.03ms" and the 4K option is the "SAMSUNG 32" Odyssey Neo G8 4K UHD 240Hz 1ms." Which monitor would you suggest I go for?

If you’re gaming on a laptop, there’s really no way you're going to saturate those monitors. I’d say go for 1440p, it’s the best option here for your setup and gaming performance.
A laptop GPU is unlikely to take full advantage of a 360Hz refresh rate while gaming. Your best bet is the higher resolution with a lower refresh rate, especially if you’ll be using it for productivity tasks too.
Honestly, your laptop's 4070 GPU probably won't be able to hit high frame rates at 4K, even 60 fps might be tough, and 120 fps at 1440p is also a stretch. So, you're kind of stuck in that regard. I would recommend the 1440p monitor if gaming performance is important to you since it seems more manageable with your hardware.
I’d go with the 1440p monitor. You don't really need the 4K for competitive games. More FPS and higher refresh rates will serve you better in shooters.
I get over 200 fps in 1600p on low settings for Fortnite, so I think 1440p is definitely the way to go!
