I'm deciding between two motherboards, the X870E Edge Ti and the ROG Strix B850-A, to use with my 9800X3D CPU. I've been using the MSI Edge Ti, but I'm really not a fan of having to open MSI Center just for RGB settings. I don't need USB4, so I'm considering switching to the B850-A. Although I've had issues with Armoury Crate in the past, I still prefer it over MSI Center. I'm curious if switching to the B850-A will affect performance in any way. Here's my setup: CPU: 9800X3D, GPU: 5090 Aorus Master Ice, RAM: 6400 C34.

There shouldn't be any performance differences between the two motherboards. They both should handle your setup just fine!
I totally get your frustration with MSI Center. What I did was set my RGB, then uninstalled MSI Center completely. It worked fine for me after that, without all the MSI nonsense running in the background!
Does that really work? I find that when I close MSI Center, the RGB goes haywire.
I agree that MSI Center can be a pain. What worked for me was to configure Windows to prevent it from starting up automatically. Once you set your RGB preferences, you can disable those services, and it won’t run unless you manually launch it. As for choosing between the boards, I went with the X870E Edge Ti because of some issues I've seen with the B850, like card slot damage and the LAN interface.

Thanks for the heads up!
