Which Motherboard Should I Choose for My New Gaming PC Build?

I'm currently building a new gaming PC, and I need some advice on selecting a motherboard. I'm deciding between the ASUS Prime B650M-A II CSM and the Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX. They seem pretty similar overall, but I've heard that the Gigabyte model generally performs a bit better, although it is also around $100 more than the ASUS. I'm worried about whether the price difference translates into a noticeable performance gap. Additionally, should I stick with a B650 motherboard or consider something more premium for my setup? I plan to pair either board with an RTX 5080 and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and I want to make sure there won't be any performance imbalance. My primary use for this PC will be gaming at mid to high settings in 4K. I appreciate any advice you can provide!

I’ve owned a few Gigabyte boards, and I experienced various BIOS issues with them. They worked alright but had annoying quirks. Switched to ASUS and haven’t looked back since! Just keep that in mind when deciding on functionality and stability.

No worries, a B650 will totally handle a Ryzen 7 7800X3D just fine! This processor isn't super demanding power-wise, so you won’t need to spend extra on a high-end motherboard just for gaming.

I’ve had great luck with my Aorus X870E Pro. It handles storage and RAM support really well. So, consider it if you're looking for good reliability. But the B650 will work fine too, especially if you’re primarily gaming.

Thanks for the tip! Storage and RAM support are crucial, so I’ll definitely keep that in mind!

If you're happy with what you find at a good price, stick with the B650 options. They’ll work well for your gaming needs without breaking the bank, especially since you’re aiming for 4K at decent settings.

If I were you, I'd seriously think about going for a B850 motherboard, especially with the components you have in mind. It's worth the upgrade for better features and future-proofing. The Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX is definitely a solid choice though—it's got WiFi 6E and better power phases!
