I'm looking for a motherboard that will work right away with my Ryzen 5 5500GT. This is my first time building a PC, so I really want to avoid any complications. I saw that the Gigabyte A520M K V2 says it's compatible with the Ryzen 5000 G series, but I'm wondering if it also supports the GT series. What's the minimum BIOS version I need to be aware of, and how can I ensure that the motherboard I choose works straight away without needing an update? Any specific motherboard recommendations would be appreciated too!

I highly recommend steering clear of A series motherboards. A B series board is a better choice since it ensures compatibility even if you need a BIOS update. Get yourself a USB flash drive; updating the BIOS is pretty easy—just download the BIOS file and push a button. The A series boards lack that feature, so you could run into problems.

Make sure to check the CPU support list on the motherboard's page—it’ll tell you which BIOS version is required. Since the Ryzen 5 5500GT is on the lower end, you shouldn't stress too much about getting the 'best' board. Just grab one that’s cost-effective with the connectors you need, as long as it has the right BIOS version.

Generally, all AM4 motherboards should technically support your CPU, but they usually require a BIOS update to work with the GT series. For a hassle-free experience, look for a motherboard that has USB Flashback capability, so you can update the BIOS without another CPU. If it fails to boot, this feature allows you to recover it easily, making it a useful option to have.
