Hey everyone! I'm in the process of upgrading my Zen 3 build and I'm specifically looking for recommendations on an MSI motherboard to pair with my AMD 9950X3D. Here's what I'm working with so far:
- AMD 9950X3D
- Corsair Vengeance 96GB RAM (2x48GB) @6000Mhz
- Nvidia RTX 3080 FE 10GB (planning to upgrade this later)
For storage, I need support for at least 2 m.2 PCIe 3.0 drives and 2x 2.5" SSDs, and I might add a couple more in the future.
I've been considering the X870 Tomahawk (non-E) but I'm starting to wonder if it might be worth it to go with a more robust option like the MPG X870E Carbon to match the specs and my future upgrades. Would love to hear any insights or other MSI board recommendations if you have them!

The X870 Tomahawk should work well with your CPU. If you don't have many extra PCIe devices that need more lanes, the Tomahawk is probably a solid choice. But if you think you might add more devices later, the X870E could offer some extra bandwidth you might appreciate.
Not sure if I really need that many lanes right now, so maybe the Tomahawk is good enough. Thanks for your input!
