Which Processor Should I Choose: 9700X or 7800X3D for My New Build?

I'm currently upgrading my PC from an AM4 platform with a Ryzen 5 5600, RTX 3060, and 32GB of RAM to an AM5 setup. I just bought an MSI Pro B650M-A Wifi motherboard and 32GB of 6000MHz memory, and I'm waiting for the parts to arrive. Now, I'm torn between the 9700X and the 7800X3D for my new processor. I plan to upgrade my GPU in November to either a 5070 or 9070XT.

As a lawyer, I use my PC for both work and gaming. I mainly play CS2 and Valorant, and occasionally stream on Twitch. I've seen some tests on YouTube that show the 9700X performs similarly to the 7800X3D in terms of FPS—sometimes they are even, with the 7800X3D only leading by 10 to 20 FPS. In Brazil, the 7800X3D costs around R$ 2,549 to R$ 2,752 (about $468 to $505), while the 9700X is priced at R$ 2,078 (about $382). This price difference is making it hard to decide. Can anyone help me make the right choice?

Have you considered the monitor resolution? It could affect your decision. If you're playing at 1080p, the 9700X should serve you well, but if you're playing CS2 in 1280x960, it’s ideal for that resolution too!

If you're looking for value, the 9700X is definitely the way to go. You can overclock it and get performance pretty close to the 7800X3D, especially with some optimized memory settings. Plus, it offers better productivity performance overall, which could be beneficial for your work as a lawyer.
