Which RAM Configuration is Better for Gaming: 32GB vs. 16GB?

I'm trying to figure out the best RAM configuration for gaming in my setup. Should I go with 32GB (2x16GB) at 3200MHz with a CAS latency of 22, or is the 16GB (2x8GB) at 3200MHz with a CAS latency of 16 the better choice? My system includes a Ryzen 5800X3D processor and a Radeon 7900XTX graphics card on an MSI PRO B550M-VC motherboard. Thanks for your help!

If you have a choice for RAM speed, why not go for something like 3600MHz? It can provide better performance, especially for gaming. But if you’re stuck with what you mentioned at the same price, just stick with the 16GB CL16.

Unfortunately, that’s not an option for me right now. But thanks for the advice!

It really depends on the games you're playing and the resolution you’re targeting. If you're into demanding titles like Cyberpunk at 1440p, both setups can work, but I'd lean towards the 16GB 3200MHz CL16 kit. It has lower latency which can help with performance in games, especially if the price is the same. Plus, 64GB is usually overkill unless you’re doing other memory-intensive tasks.

Got it! I was wondering how much impact that CAS latency difference actually makes in real gameplay.
