Which SSD Should I Choose for My New PC Build?

I'm putting together a new PC and have almost all the parts lined up. I'm holding off on ordering until Prime Day to snag some good deals. I found a 2TB Gen 4 Samsung SSD for $150, but there's a Prime Day deal for a 4TB Gen 5 Samsung SSD at $235, which is $95 off. I'm curious if the upgrade to Gen 5 is worth the extra cost, especially since I can get double the storage. My motherboard supports both Gen 4 and Gen 5 SSDs, so I'm looking for some advice on which way to go.

I've gotten a good deal on the Silicon Power Gen 4 M.2 drives for $215 and I also bought a Team Group T-Force Gen 5 for $324 for 4TB. Just a heads up—Silicon Power has started using QLC flash, so it might be best to steer clear of their newer models.

Thanks for the warning! I'll definitely keep an eye out for that.

I've switched to a Gen 5 SSD for my OS, and I've definitely noticed an improvement over my previous Gen 4 drive. If you're looking for speed, it could be worth it.

Unless you're working with really big files professionally, the difference may not be too noticeable. For most everyday use, reliability is key. For budgeting, consider the C910 for 2TB at around $90 or the faster MP44L for $98. For 4TB, you can find the C910 for about $192, or if you want speed, the 990 Evo Plus at $229. But really, only choose the top-tier drives if you think you'll need that extra performance.
