Hey folks, I'm reaching out for some assistance with my PC. Even though I work in IT support, I'm stumped on this one. I got this powerful PC from a friend a few years back. Recently, I ran into issues trying to access the Microsoft Store. My friend mentioned that his brother used a "special" Windows license for it, but I'm not entirely clear on what that means. When I asked if it was pirated, he assured me that it wasn't.
However, now I want to use the Microsoft Store, and every time I try, I get an error message saying the store won't load because Windows updates aren't running. I discovered that the Windows Update Service is disabled, and when I tried to enable it, I kept getting "Access Denied - Error 5" for anything I attempted, whether it was through the Windows Registry, PowerShell, or Command Prompt, all with admin rights. My account is supposed to have admin access, yet I can't seem to do anything. Could this indicate that the Windows version is pirated? Just to note, I'm running Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Version 10.0.22621, Build 22621.

It sounds like your Windows might be a pirated or modified version. Sometimes people use "debloated" versions that restrict certain functionalities. My recommendation would be to do a clean reinstall with a legit Windows license to restore full functionality.
Why not give Linux a shot? It could be a fun way to breathe new life into your powerful PC without dealing with Windows restrictions.
If your friend mentioned a 'special' license, that’s a red flag. Usually, that’s code for a pirated version. If you can, get a legitimate copy of Windows, and that should solve your problems.
