I've got a decent gaming setup and I'm generally happy with it, but I'm experiencing lower than expected FPS in Fortnite. Here are my specs: 2x8 GB RAM at 4800MT/s, an RTX 5060 graphics card, and an Intel i5 14400f processor. In Creative mode, I manage around 250 FPS, while I've noticed others with 32GB of 6000MHz RAM hitting around 280 FPS in Battle Royale. I understand their RAM is faster, but does that really make such a difference to overall performance? What can I do to boost my FPS?

There are quite a few elements in play here—like how the other player's overclocking settings could differ, even their game settings. Always looks into every aspect when you're comparing performance! And with 16GB now seen as the minimum, the upgrade to 32GB can smooth things out too.
Your CPU, the i5 14400f, is a bit sensitive to memory speed. Being on 4800MHz with loose timings will be slower than that 32GB 6000MHz RAM. If you're comfortable doing so, disabling core isolation might help bump your FPS a bit, but be aware it can reduce security. Have you tried that?
Make sure you have XMP enabled on your RAM. Without that, you're not getting the full speed, which could be causing lower FPS. Also, check for any background processes slowing things down.
I just checked and I don't have XMP on. I'll give that a shot!
Fortnite tends to lean heavily on your CPU. Were the other specs different, like a more powerful CPU or resolution? Also, double-check if they’re using 1440p or have other settings adjusted differently than yours.
From what I gather, they had the same specs, just the RAM was different.
It's surprising to me that you're concerned about getting 250 FPS—that sounds pretty good! But if you're comparing with someone else and feeling it's low, keep in mind that faster RAM usually does help. Just curious though, are you really able to make the most of those extra frames? Most casual players don’t even notice 30 FPS difference in gameplay, especially in Fortnite.
Exactly! Most players don’t need crazy high FPS unless you’re competing. It’s more about consistency.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate the tips!
