Why Am I Getting Low FPS with High-End Hardware?

I've got a 3060 Ti paired with an R7 5700X, but I'm facing some frustrating performance issues in competitive games. Even with stretch resolution and all settings on low, I'm struggling to hit decent FPS—like only 90 FPS in CS2 and around 100 FPS in Fortnite, but the CPU usage stays at about 40% and the GPU at 20%. It's only in AAA titles that my GPU ramps up to 90% usage and delivers performance close to benchmarks. I sometimes run AI tasks locally, and both the CPU and GPU hit 100%, so I know my hardware can perform. I'm just puzzled why games aren't utilizing the full potential, especially since I have a 240Hz monitor I want to make the most out of.

Have you checked your RAM speed? If you're running 2133MHz, that's definitely on the low end. Ryzen CPUs really benefit from faster RAM, and enabling EXPO (XMP) could help. If you’re having blue screens with it enabled, maybe it’s worth a little investment to upgrade. A quick $100 could make a difference.

Yeah, I disabled XMP because of the bluescreens. Guess it's time to upgrade! I just want to enjoy my games without these headaches.

A 40% CPU usage could mean that your CPU is being maxed out across fewer cores, especially since many games don't utilize all the threads. With your hardware, consider looking into XMP/EXPO settings in BIOS to boost RAM speeds. If all else fails, check for BIOS updates; sometimes an old version can lead to performance issues.

First off, check the per-core usage of your CPU. The overall percentage doesn't give the full picture. Your 5700X has 8 cores, so 40% means about 4 cores are maxed out, which isn't typical for CS2. It might be worth looking into if there's any malware or extra processes sucking up resources.

Make sure your NVIDIA drivers are up to date. Also, keep an eye on your temps during gaming. Your GPU should ideally run under 75°C. For your CPU, 80-85°C is pushing it, especially since it's hardly being utilized. Maybe there’s a conflict with older drivers or a BIOS update could optimize things.

My drivers are current, and GPU temps are good, but I might need to check the BIOS. It's been a while since my last update.
