I recently upgraded from a Ryzen 5 5600X to a Ryzen 9 5950X, but I'm experiencing lower frames per second (FPS) in games. The PC starts up fine, but I'm seeing a drop in performance. I've updated the BIOS and all of my drivers, but nothing seems to change. Any ideas on what might be going wrong?

What games are you playing, and what kind of graphics settings are you using? That info could really help narrow things down.
I have a couple of questions: what cooler are you using for the 5950X, and what motherboard are you on? Those can definitely impact performance as well.
I'm using a TUF GAMING A520M-PLUS II motherboard along with a bequiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 cooler.
The performance drop is puzzling since the 5600X and 5950X should perform similarly in most games. Double-check to see if your CPU might be overheating, which could cause thermal throttling. Also, ensure that XMP settings for your RAM are enabled in the BIOS. Keeping your BIOS updated can help too.
I enabled DOCP and my CPU runs at 60-70 degrees, so I don't think overheating is an issue.
It's likely something might be off with your setup. I have both a 5950X and a 5800X3D, and the FPS with the 5950X is similar to the 5800X3D. I recommend sticking with the 5950X for its capabilities beyond just gaming.
I mostly play Rust and War Thunder. In War Thunder, I'm usually getting 90-110 FPS at 1080p upscaled to 1440p with max settings. But in Rust, I used to hit around 100 FPS, and now I'm only at 60 FPS, with the same upscaling but using medium settings.
