Why Am I Getting Lower FPS Than My Wife’s Gaming PC?

I have a high-end gaming setup with an EVGA 3080 Ti GPU and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, paired with 16GB of DDR5 RAM. My wife's PC has a 3080 Aorus Xtreme GPU and a Ryzen 5 9600X3D, also with 16GB of DDR5 RAM. Despite these specs, she gets around 250 FPS in 'Far Far West' while I'm only hitting about 180 FPS. Neither of us has tweaked our CPUs; they're both running out of the box. Is it possible that her GPU is just better than mine despite not being a Ti model?

Maybe check if you have EXPO enabled, or if V-sync is turned off. Sometimes those small settings can mess with performance.

EXPO is on and V-sync is off.

You might want to look at your RAM setup and make sure it's in dual-channel mode with the correct timings. Also, check your power connectors to the GPU and make sure they're properly set up.

My RAM is in the right slots and XMP is running at 6000 MHz. I'm using a 1000W PSU while she has an 850W.

First, make sure you both have the same resolution and in-game settings. Sometimes little tweaks can lead to big differences in FPS! What resolution are you both using?

GamingGuru92 -

Yes, we're both at 1440p and have the exact same settings.

It might be worth looking at your system temperatures during gameplay, and see if any other games have similar performance gaps. Make sure to also have the latest GPU driver installed by uninstalling the old one with DDU and reinstalling the new one.

My CPU is around 60°C and GPU is 70-80°C while gaming. In other games, she tends to get 20-30 FPS more than me too, and we have the latest drivers.

Are you both on the same Windows version and have the latest drivers? Sometimes background programs or optimizations can impact performance. Double-check your settings like power plans and core isolation.

We're both on Windows 11 with fresh installs and all updates done. I haven't touched core isolation or memory integrity yet.
