Why am I seeing no FPS improvement after upgrading my GPU?

I recently upgraded my graphics card from a 4060 Ti to a 5070 Ti, but I'm not seeing any improvement in frame rates while playing Warzone at 1440p. My setup includes a Ryzen 7 7700 processor, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a pretty solid NVMe SSD. I average around 160 fps with the old GPU and am getting similar or slightly lower fps on the new one. I suspect a CPU bottleneck might be the issue, but I would have expected at least some increase in performance with the upgrade. I've had better results with a 7900 XT previously, which gave me a significant FPS boost. I've also tested both GPUs with FurMark, getting 300 fps on the 5070 Ti versus 175 fps on the 4060 Ti. What could be going wrong?

Your RAM seems to be holding you back too. Running 4800MT/s isn’t ideal for gaming, especially with a non-X3D Ryzen CPU. Have you thought about overclocking your RAM or switching to faster modules?

If you really want to see a jump in FPS, consider getting an X3D CPU. It'll likely make a noticeable difference in performance for gaming, especially in CPU-intensive titles like Warzone.

I might just do that! I love my 5070 Ti, but if it's not pulling weight because of the CPU, I need to address that.

Totally worth it if you’re serious about gaming!

I mean, if the 7900 XT gave you a big upgrade compared to the 5070 Ti, then it's not just a CPU bottleneck; something else is at play like GPU settings or drivers. Make sure everything is optimized, or it could be a compatibility issue.

That could be very true! It's frustrating when upgrades don't perform as expected.

Keep an eye on your GPU usage during gameplay too. If it’s not being fully utilized, that can indicate where the issue lies.

It sounds like you're hitting a CPU bottleneck, which is why you’re not seeing any FPS improvement. Even though the 5070 Ti is a stronger card, if the CPU can’t keep up, you're not going to gain anything in performance. Some games, especially like Warzone, rely heavily on the CPU, so that could definitely be what's holding you back.

Yeah, CPU demand stays high even at 1440p. It’s a common myth that higher resolutions always mean the GPU takes over completely. If it’s a CPU-heavy game, that’ll always matter.

Also, make sure your RAM is running at the right speeds. RAM speed can impact overall performance significantly, especially with Ryzen setups.

Honestly, I’m surprised you didn’t see a boost at 1440p—it should make a difference! I’d suggest trying some different settings or even reinstalling Windows to see if that helps. Something is off, and it's probably not just the CPU bottleneck they mention.

Haha, I feel you! A reinstall can sometimes clear up weird issues.

Don’t forget to check if there are any updates available for your GPU drivers; sometimes they can really impact performance.
