Why Am I Stuck at 60 FPS with My 144Hz Monitor and RTX 3060?

I'm having a problem where my games are capped at 60 FPS, even though I have a 144Hz monitor and an NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics card. I've checked all the settings and they seem to be properly set to 144Hz, but I still can't hit higher frame rates in any games. What else can I try to get my frame rates up?

If you're running 1440p at high settings, keep in mind that the RTX 3060 might struggle to maintain high FPS. My guess is that your hardware is hitting some limitations there, especially if you're trying to run demanding games.

Double-check your monitor's settings directly. Sometimes there are configurations on the monitor itself that can limit FPS. Also, check if the games have any in-game FPS cap settings.

Are you using a DisplayPort or HDMI cable? It’s essential because using the right cable can affect your refresh rate. If you're using DisplayPort, that should work fine for 144Hz.

Yep, I'm using DisplayPort.

Also, check if V-Sync or FreeSync is enabled in your games. Those can hold your FPS back. Is this happening in all games or just some specific ones?

It's happening in all my games, and I've disabled both.

Have you looked in your display settings? Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings. You should be able to confirm that it's set to 144Hz down at the bottom. It's easy to overlook that!

I checked, and it’s set to 144, but it still doesn’t show that in-game.
