I recently upgraded to a 7950X processor and noticed something odd. I read that during gaming, even without the X3D cache, 8 of the cores should park to reduce latency between the two chiplet dies (CCDs). However, my resource monitor shows all cores actively in use while gaming, and sometimes one of the CCDs goes to sleep during lighter tasks. Shouldn't it be the opposite? This just seems backwards to me. Has anyone experienced this with a 7950X or similar setup? What can I do to address this? I also noticed there's no 3D cache optimizer in the chipset drivers for the 7950X.

Have you checked your power settings? If you're not on a balanced plan, the system can behave differently than expected. Also, sometimes monitoring the CPU can make it behave differently, so maybe try monitoring with a different tool or not at all.
If you're unsure, a clean install of your drivers could help. Sometimes the OS settings influence how cores are utilized, and a fresh driver can reset any odd behaviors you’re seeing.
