Why Are Free PDF Editors Rare on Mobile Devices?

I've been trying to modify a PDF on my mobile, and I've noticed that almost all of the free PDF editors out there are pretty useless without paying. It seems like the options I've found either make you pay to save or even download the edited PDF. I'm curious, why do so many PDF editors have paywalls? Is there something about editing PDFs that justifies charging €18 just to download a file after making edits?

If you're mainly looking to fill out forms or make simple edits, you might want to try using other options. Adobe Acrobat Pro works for me when I need something robust, but there are also services like Adobe's free print to PDF function on mobile devices.

Think about it this way: creating software takes time and resources. Developers need to make a living, just like everyone else.

PDFs are a tricky file format to work with; editing them isn't straightforward. It’s a serious undertaking for developers to create a good PDF editor.

Honestly, you usually get what you pay for. Free software often comes with limitations, especially for something as complex as PDF editing.

Building your own free PDF editor could be a solution if you're so inclined! But remember, quality costs money.
