Why Are My CPU and GPU Temperatures So High After BIOS Update?

I recently updated the BIOS on my Intel i9 13900kf CPU and Nvidia 4060ti GPU while trying to play a game. Since the update, I've been experiencing unusually high temperatures on both components. My GPU was peaking at around 85°C and averaging between 75-80°C, while my CPU hit peaks near 96°C and typically averaged around 85°C. I've never had such high temps before, not even during stress tests. I adjusted the voltage curve for my GPU and set a -0.07V offset for my CPU, then increased all my fan curves, but the CPU is still sitting around 80-85°C, even though the GPU has cooled down a bit to 70-75°C. I'm uncertain if the BIOS update changed anything significant, and I haven't opened the case yet. Any advice would be appreciated!

It sounds like the BIOS update might have enabled your CPU and GPU to perform at their max capacity now. Since you're seeing good performance, it's okay not to obsess over the temps too much. Just make sure your cooling is up to par. Also, take a look at any performance profiles in the BIOS to see if the defaults changed or if there are new settings.

I understand worrying about temps, but you're right—I don't want to overdo it and risk damaging my hardware. I reset to default settings after the update and just tweaked the CPU voltage offset and the GPU voltage with MSI Afterburner. I think getting better cooling might be necessary at this point.

Are you checking hotspot readings too? The 4060 ti's gpu temp shouldn't reach that high unless there's an issue. Maybe there’s something wrong with the cooling system if it’s consistently high. Let me know if you want me to help you troubleshoot further!

Just to clarify, I'm not looking at hotspot temps. I can run HWInfo while gaming for a more accurate reading if you'd like. I noticed the hotspot peaks around 80°C, but the overall GPU temp is around 70°C.
