Hey everyone! I just got a Lenovo Legion 7 Pro - 16IAX10H, and I've been frustrated by how slow my download speeds are compared to the upload speeds. I've already updated the BIOS and the wireless card firmware, which made a slight difference, but I'm still experiencing significantly lower download speeds.
I did a few tests using Ubuntu and got similar results. To give you an idea of my setup:
- Router: RT-AC86U, Firmware: 3.0.0.4.384_32799-gfe72567
- Wireless Card: Intel(R) Wi-Fi 7 BE200
- Connection: 5 GHz, Signal: 89%
When I run iperf tests, my download speeds are around 400 Mbps compared to 600+ Mbps for uploads. In fact, my Android phone and MacBook Pro are achieving much better speeds in the same conditions. I'm wondering if this is a common issue with this laptop model and if it can be fixed through software adjustments, or should I just reach out to Lenovo support? Any insights would be appreciated!

Looking at your numbers, getting around 600 Mbps on a Wi-Fi 5 network isn’t too shabby! But I understand your frustration with the download going only up to 400 Mbps. Let’s not forget that each device can behave a bit differently with network loads. Just for comparison, did your previous laptop have similar issues?
I noticed you mentioned using iperf for testing. The download speeds can indeed fluctuate based on a lot of factors, including network congestion and interference from other devices. It might be worth checking for any other networks nearby that could be impacting your bandwidth.
Before contacting Lenovo, make sure to check if your router settings are optimized for your device. Sometimes, adjusting the channel or updating the router firmware can yield improvements. You could also try placing the laptop closer to the router to see if it boosts your download speeds!
