Hey everyone, I'm hoping to get some advice here. I'm running into a frustrating issue with my gaming performance. I recently upgraded my GPU from an RTX 3060 to an RX 7090 XT, and ever since then, my frame rates in games have plummeted. For instance, in Valorant, I used to get around 300-400 FPS, but now I'm struggling to even hit 120 FPS.
Here are my specs:
- i5-12400F
- RX 7090 XT
- 32GB DDR4 RAM
- 2TB SSD
- 850 PSU
What's really strange is that when I run Furmark, everything seems to work perfectly fine—I'm hitting 330 FPS at full utilization with a temperature of 55°C. But when I try to play any FPS games, it's like my PC is acting like a low-end laptop. I've tried reinstalling the drivers and even switching back to previous versions, but nothing has helped. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue?

Your Windows could be having issues; consider a fresh install if nothing else works. It could solve some underlying problems.
Take a look at your power settings in Windows. Make sure you're using optimal power plans and maybe save your BIOS settings and clear the CMOS. If you're on Windows 11, there’s a refresh option that might help without losing files. Also, what's the CPU and GPU usage when you play games? That info could give us more clues.
Check if your RAM's XMP profile is enabled and set to run in gear 1 mode. This can make a big difference in performance.
It sounds like you might need to completely remove all traces of the Nvidia drivers. You can do this using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). After that, make sure to reinstall the AMD drivers. That often helps with performance issues after a GPU swap.

During gameplay, I'm seeing about 60% CPU usage and 10-20% GPU usage. I guess there's a reason why they say Valorant is more CPU-intensive!
