Why Are My Game Downloads So Slow on My SSD?

I have a single SSD in my PC, and I'm wondering why my game downloads are so slow despite having decent download speeds—around 900 Mbps and upload speeds of about 45-50 Mbps. My downloads on platforms like Steam, Epic Games, and Xbox seem to take forever. Is there a way to speed them up without purchasing more drives, and could my sole SSD be the reason for this problem? Or is it just how my PC is set up?

Your download speed can seem high, but it can vary when multiple users are connected to the server you’re downloading from. That might slow things down a bit. Also, remember that game downloads might be affected by how they manage data compression and the load on their servers, especially during peak times. It’s worth checking your actual speeds during downloads!

When downloading games, platforms like Steam can utilize a lot of CPU resources to decompress files, which might impact speed. Try checking your task manager to see if Steam is using a full CPU core while downloading. If it isn't, that could be a part of the issue!

How do I check that in task manager?
