Why Are My Games Lagging with a Radeon 5 5600G?

I've got a Radeon 5 5600G processor which I thought could handle some demanding games. But every time I try to play, the performance is really poor. I'm only using 8GB of RAM, so could that be the issue? I've based my expectations on random YouTube videos, but honestly, I need some help figuring this out!

Yeah, the 5600G was decent, but you really should consider running games at 720p. Also, if you don't have dual channel RAM, it could be cutting your performance significantly. I'd recommend upgrading to 16GB and ensuring it's fast enough (like 3200MHz).

How can I check if my RAM speed is adequate?

What games are you trying to run? The 5600G can manage older titles at lower settings, but 8GB of RAM is definitely holding you back, especially if you’re on single channel.

I tried playing games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and even Spiritfarer on low settings, but they barely hit 30 fps!

Do you have a separate graphics card? The integrated graphics on the 5600G aren't great for most games. Plus, with only 8GB of RAM, you're really limiting your performance.

Nah, I'm on a tight budget! Should I upgrade the GPU or just get more RAM?

Honestly, you might need an entirely new setup if you want to game efficiently. Your current specs are quite outdated. The video you linked had someone using 32GB of RAM, while you're only at 8GB. To get decent FPS, you should look into upgrading your RAM, and eventually, adding a dedicated GPU really would help.

Got it! How can I know if the RAM I buy will work with my setup?
