Why are my games loading slowly on my new PC build?

I've recently built a new PC, and I'm experiencing frustratingly slow load times with almost all my games. For example, Call of Duty takes forever to load textures after matches. I'm pretty sure my HDD is the culprit since I'm considering upgrading to a faster 1TB SSD or NVMe drive for better performance. Any recommendations on what would help speed up my game load times? Thanks! I've been eyeing a Western Digital SN850X 1TB NVMe drive; would that be a good choice?

You really need to upgrade to an SSD! They load games loads faster than an HDD and are becoming necessary for newer titles. I suggest something like the Crucial P3 Plus or Kingston NV3 if you're looking for something affordable. Go for NVMe if possible; they're easier to install and you won’t have to deal with SATA cables!

Yeah, modern games pretty much need an SSD to avoid those texture loading problems. It's a game changer!

Exactly! It's almost like essential these days, especially with how games are developing.

Any m.2 SSD would outperform your current setup. Just out of curiosity, what's your budget and where are you located?

I don't have a specific budget in mind, but I'm in America and there's a Micro Center nearby!

Sounds like your hard drive is definitely the issue! Swapping it out for any 2.5" SATA SSD should really help with load times.
