Why Are My Office Apps Missing in M365?

Has anyone else experienced M365 acting weirdly where it seems to uninstall Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, leaving just Project and Visio? I'm trying to figure out if this is an issue from Microsoft or if it's something weird with our setup. It seems to be happening mostly on devices connected to Entra ID.

It sounds like there might have been a mistake in the configuration settings. When someone tried to add Project and Visio, maybe they accidentally set it up wrong, resulting in just those two apps being left. The configuration XML should definitely list all three: the main Office apps, Project, and Visio.

Do you have a separate deployment for Project and Visio? If so, check if it’s set to uninstall previous versions. That could explain why the Office apps disappeared.

Great observation! It could definitely be that someone at your HQ pushed the wrong configuration. I’ve seen that happen before. Fortunately, if it’s back now, it might just be a temporary glitch.

Sounds like a mix-up at HQ! If they set the install for VISIO + PROJECT as mandatory for all Entra ID devices and had it set to uninstall previous versions, that's likely the root cause.
