Why are my SATA drives not showing up after adding a second M2 SSD?

I'm running a Proxmox VE 8.2.5 server on a B550M Pro-VDH motherboard, which has 4 internal SATA drives (three conventional drives and one SATA SSD) and 3 external USB drives. It also boots from an M2 SSD. I just added a second M2 SSD, and while that works perfectly, I'm facing an issue where the three conventional SATA drives are no longer detected by Proxmox, though the SATA SSD still shows up. I'm curious if this is a common issue and if anyone has suggestions on how to fix it, considering that the B550M Pro-VDH should support both M.2 and SATA drives simultaneously.

Have you checked the BIOS to see if the SATA drives appear there? Also, make sure they are spinning up when you power the server on. Sometimes, loose cables during installation can cause issues.

I just booted from a Hiren Boot CD, and it detects all my drives! So it seems like the issue is solely with Proxmox.

It's possible that using a specific M.2 slot could disable some SATA connectors on your motherboard. I’ve seen this happen on other boards, so double-check that connection!

Yeah, I've had similar experiences, but I couldn't find any information in the manual about this happening on your board either.
