I'm trying to build my first PC, but I can't believe how expensive RAM is! I've seen prices around $200 for a 16GB DDR4 kit (2x8GB). Is this the real price now, or am I missing something?

Not long ago, buying PC parts at reasonable prices was possible, but now we're seeing crazy costs for RAM and SSDs. From what I see, this pricing trend won’t let up until demand cools down.
Here's a wild tale: Three companies decided to spend money on future products that didn't exist yet, completely draining the RAM supply. Now here we are, facing off against absurd prices while they push out half-baked AI solutions. It's a bit comical, isn't it?
It might seem like prices are out of control, but if you look around, you can actually find 16GB DDR4 kits for about $100-120. While that’s not a bargain, it's definitely better than the $200 you mentioned.

I got a Gskill Trident Z Neo for $90 last year, so it's crazy to see the increase, but I guess it's still somewhat manageable.
