Why can my computer see the hotspot but not the WiFi?

Hey everyone! So my partner and I recently moved into her parents' house, and we're dealing with a bit of a connectivity issue. My desktop can connect to the home's WiFi without a hitch, but her laptop can't even detect the network. Just to give you a clearer picture:
- Both computers are set up right next to each other, and mine connects fine while hers can't find the WiFi (so I doubt it's a router problem).
- Her laptop does show my iPhone hotspot, indicating that the network adapter is at least functioning to some degree.
- Interestingly, her laptop was able to connect to WiFi without issues before we made the move.

I've tried a few troubleshooting steps:
- Ran ipconfig and followed some commands shared by users here, but no luck.
- Updated drivers for her network adapter.
- Restarted the laptop a couple of times.
- Played around with the adapter settings.

I'm really stumped on this one. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked if her laptop can see any other WiFi networks? Sometimes if it can't detect any, it might be a sign that there's a broader issue going on with the adapter or its settings. It could just be that the home WiFi is the only one in range, making it look like it's a problem only with that network.

Yeah, that's a good point! It might help to check if other nearby networks are visible to confirm the laptop's functionality.

If she can see your iPhone hotspot, that's definitely a good sign that her adapter isn't completely broken. You might want to try connecting her laptop to that hotspot temporarily to see if it can connect and access the internet that way. It would help isolate whether the issue is specifically with the home WiFi.
