Why Can’t I Boot Windows After Using Ubuntu to Erase Drives?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a bind here. I just finished cleaning a few hard drives with a portable version of Ubuntu—specifically one external HDD and a Samsung OEM NVMe. I want to stress that I haven't touched my main Windows drive at all (it's a 1TB WD Blue SN580). It seems fine, but I can't access its files through Ubuntu since it's formatted to NTFS. The strange part is that after I shut down Ubuntu and unplugged the drives, my PC froze at the loading screen, forcing me to do a hard shutdown. Now, my Windows boot manager isn't detected anymore, and I can only boot using USB drives or through the LAN card. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Have you tried checking if your Windows drive still has a drive letter assigned? Sometimes it can get dropped, especially after messing with drive formats. If you have a portable Windows installation on a USB, that could help you diagnose the issue further.

What does your partition setup look like for your system drive? Were there other drives connected when you initially installed Windows? Sometimes the EFI partition can end up on a different drive, and if you accidentally erase or format that drive, it might prevent Windows from booting.
