Hey everyone! I'm having a bit of trouble with my motherboard (MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI) after trying to switch my TPM from version 1.2 to 2.0. I'm running Windows 11 and need TPM 2.0 for an upcoming game. I followed a tutorial to change the settings in my BIOS, but now when I check tpm.msc, I get the message "Compatible TPM cannot be found."
I went back into my BIOS and checked the security settings, and it says that the "Security Device Support" is enabled, but there's still no TPM detected. I've also checked if the device is listed in the Device Manager, but it's absent there too. The setting for "fTPM 2.0" is on, so I'm just trying to figure out what's going wrong. Should I reset my BIOS or maybe update it? Any advice would be super helpful! Thanks!

Have you checked for any drivers on your motherboard's website? It’s a good idea to look for a firmware update too. Also, try showing hidden devices in Device Manager; sometimes, TPM can show up there even if it seems disconnected. If it does show up, you might need to update it or check your secure boot settings—it could be disabled! Here’s the support page for your motherboard: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B650-GAMING-PLUS-WIFI/support#bios
Updating BIOS worked for me, so definitely give it a shot! Hope it helps you out!
By the way, I noticed you have CSM enabled in your BIOS settings. You might want to disable that to access the secure boot option, which can help recognize the TPM. Try enabling secure boot after that and see if your TPM shows up!
Yeah, updating the BIOS can definitely resolve this issue. You can find detailed instructions on how to do that here: https://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2025/01/update-bios-firmware-windows.html. Good luck!
Thanks for the tip! I was able to see hidden devices, and it showed up with an error saying it wasn't connected. I’m updating the BIOS anyway, but I’ll make sure to check that device too.
